HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and is involved with the protection of sensitive patient data. Companies that deal with protected health information (PHI) must ensure that all the required physical, network, and process security measures are in place and followed. Boulevard is proud to comply with the requirements of the HIPAA Security Rule.
Businesses must play their part to achieve compliance. These responsibilities include carefully selecting the amount and type of electronic protected health information that is included in text and email messages, as well as executing a Business Associate Amendment with Boulevard.
Protected Health Information (PHI) is defined as information that is received from or on behalf of Healthcare Providers. Boulevard does not receive nor store PHI. Businesses using Boulevard have the option to store client notes in the digital profiles of their customers, however these notes are not accessible by anyone who does not have Admin access. It is up to the business as to how to input information into client profiles, and Boulevard advises businesses to exercise due diligence when including information that may be sensitive to the client.
Boulevard is adamant about the safety of client data and has a strong data protection policy in place. HIPAA Business Associate Amendment (BAA) documents are available to businesses who feel they qualify. Please inquire with your Boulevard representative.
